Interactive Lesson
Tips & Examples
When in the exam the examiner is looking for candidates to speak for around 90 seconds. A recommended target for speaking will therefore be 90 seconds when practicing answering at home. The examiner will have one or two questions prepared to ask the speaker if they don’t speak long enough. If the speaker is asked questions it is no problem. They just need to answer them to the best of their ability.

Example Answer 1
“Today I would like to tell you about Rush Hour, which is my favorite film. I suppose I could begin by telling you about the films all-star cast featuring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker as detectives who need to solve a crime. Although, I wouldn't classify this as a crime movie because it’s more of a combination between action and comedy. But the basic outline of the plot is a Chinese girl is kidnapped in LA, and Chan is sent over by the Chinese government to investigate the case. Now, the American authorities weren't happy about this, so they assigned Tucker, who's a fast talking LA detective to keep Chan out of the picture. Ultimately, they end up alienating both the Chinese and American authorities, yet they solve the case. To elaborate more, I'll move on to my next point which is my favorite scene. This occurs when Chan arrives from China to America and Tucker assumes, he can't speak English. Tucker just keeps talking and talking, and Chan pretends he can't understand him! It’s fantastic! And now to address why I enjoy this film, I believe it makes fun of different cultures coming together. Plus, Tucker and Chan have great on-screen chemistry. And to finish up and be brief, I'll tell you why I recommend it to people. I think this is because it has something for everybody. There are great fight scenes mixed with brilliant lines, and when humor and action are mixed, it generally produces an instant classic. Thank you, that’s all I have to say.”
