The table illustrates house construction in multiple cities across the world in 1950 and 2010. Overall, Portland, Shanghai, and Hamburg all increased the amount of homes built, whereas Tokyo’s, Moscow’s, and London’s housing production fell during the same period.

According to the table, Shanghai’s home construction surged the most between 1950 and 2000, increasing from 2200 to 21,500 in the 50 years. Although Portland and Hamburg built more houses from 1950 to 2000, it was not as noteworthy as Shanghai, with Portland escalating their production from 3000 to over 14,000, and Hamburg only growing roughly by 400 homes.

On the other hand, Moscow and Tokyo experienced the greatest fall in home building from 1950 to 2000, with the latter shrinking from 15,000 to slightly below 7,000 homes and the former decreasing by roughly 7,000 houses from nearly 10,500 down to 3000. Although London’s housing production diminished in the 50 years, it only fell by 1,000 homes from 15,500 to 14,500.
