Tips & Examples
Often a candidate will be expected to write about mixed charts. The charts can be any of the different types and there can be as many as 4 charts in a group.
Example 1:
The pie chart highlights the percentages of crops grown for export, and the table highlights countries crops are exported to from the US.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
Answer: The pie chart illustrates the proportion of crops designated for exportation and the table demonstrates where exported crops are delivered in terms of percentage. Overall, corn is the largest crop grown for exportation, while China is the most likely destination for US harvests.
With regards for the crop export market in the US, the main crop grown is corn, controlling roughly half of the total market. Comparatively, wheat and soy are significantly less exported than corn, with both at approximately 20 percent. The least exported crop in the US is cotton at 13 percent.
With respect for the country’s crops are exported to, China and Japan are the most preferred countries with slightly under one-third for the former and exactly one-quarter for the latter. Simultaneously, Chile and Spain obtain nearly 20 percent each of US crops, at the same time as Mexico only receives slightly more than five percent.
